Well I went to visit DNDonline Games to put up a post to get some adventurers for my game and ran across a post advertising for players to play Swords and Wizardry White Box version. First Print edition.  Here is the  link. He is calling his game Hidden Treasure And Greedy Goblins and sounds like a very fun game. I am thinking of playing myself. I will however have to learn the rules which he has provided a link to here.

There are currently 3 versions of the Game. Swords and Wizardry White Box, Swords and Wizardry Core Rules, and Swords and Wizardry Complete Rules. My game will be based upon Swords and Wizardry Core Rules 4th edition.

Those of you interested in playing Swords and Wizardry on a very unique forum for playing roleplaying games go check out DNDonlinegames and become a member and support the Swords and Wizardry community.

I look forward to playing with you  all.

Game On!

Well I am really distracted right now Working on my little adventure to run on DNDonlinegames has turned into a bigger project than I thought. All kinds of ideas.  I also have an idea to start characters at level zero. I am adapting the S&W Corerules 4th edition and the S&W Quickstart Guide to create the S&W Zero Level handbook to start my adventure. After reading the rules for “Dungeon Classic Crawl” rules it sounded like fun.

I hope to get things started this week by accepting player applications on the DNDonlinegames forums this week. While the S&W Zero Level Handbook will only be in draft form at the start. I will continue to work on a presentable published form to release as a PDF (and possibly an epub) version there after. So only my players will get the draft copy.

I look forward to starting my game so get out those dice and start rolling. But remember “Imagine the Hell out of the Game” 5 bonus experience points for anyone who can tell me where this quote is from.

Also send me an email if you wish to be contacted when the post for applications is up on the DNDonlinegames forum. I will send you a reply when it is along with instructions on joining DNDonlinegames as well what I will be looking for in an application and the link to the thread where you will post it.

I hope to have the game started by September 15, 2011.

A little Bollywood to get you in the mood.

Shiny Things

I started this blog to increase my writing skills, but somehow became distracted by shiny objects. Those being new reading material. I have been reading the new James Rollins book entitled “The Devil Colony as we as a host of other reading material. I have also been working on converting SRD 3.5 Monsters to OE Sword and Wizardry Stats to be used in an upcoming project I am working on.

I am writing and converting. Have many ideas on adventure modules, new monsters as well as my campaign world and Mega Dungeon. I guess I need to pick one project and work on it until it is complete then move on to the next one, but the ideas seem to hit me for one project when I am working on another one. I really need to organize my notes. Most of it stemmed from my idea on running a game on DNDonlinegames forums and where to start. So I guess that should be my first priority.

I have the first adventure in mind and half mapped out using Dungeon Crafter with the old stile maps. So this is the list of things I really need to do to get the game started.

1. Advertise on DNDonlinegames forums for interested players.

2. Finish the booklet of house rules based upon the Swords and Wizardry Game that we will start with.

3. If there is enough interest, 5 to 6 players then apply for the game thread.

4. Have the Players role up their characters and write a background for them.

Once I have done this I need to convert just certain SRD 3.5 monsters to be used in the game along with the monsters that are provided by the Swords and Wizardry Rulebook.

I will be using my Swords and Wizardry House Rules along with the Swords and Wizardry Core Rules 4th edition which can be downloaded for free from here.

More to follow when I complete the house rules and post an interest thread here.

Swords and Wizardry Play by Post

I ran across a forum that is devoted to play by post of roleplaying games, especially D&D. The forums are divided into categories of Dungeon and Dragons:Games before 3.5e which includes 2e homebrew campaigns and 3e homebrew campaigns. There seems to relativity very few of these games.

Then there are the catagories Dungeon and Dragons: 3.5e and Dungeon and Dragons 4e. These catagories are devided further alphabetically. The last Catagory is Other roleplaying games. This is further subdivided into d20 modern, pathfinder, starwars rpg, codename ladybug, and other roleplaying games.

Most likely Swords and Wizardry would fall into the latter category and sub category “other roleplaying games.”

These forums are set up to make dice roles using tags that will convert a d20 into a dice roll. The DM is the moderator of the Main Thread of his game as well as the subthreads of his game. After his game is approved a Game thread is created by one of the administrators of the board. Once created, the dm can create his own threads in the game thread. One thread can be devoted to the main game play, while another can be created for dice roles. There could be one for just Out of Character discussions.

I want to start a game on this forums as well as get others involved. To start an old school presence on this board. Whether it be Swords and Wizardry, OSRIC, Labyrinth Lord. Old Schoolers need to represent. So if your into Play by Post, would like to try your hand at play by post. Come to dndonlinegames.com and join the fun. Let us get several games going. Using the free rules we may influence others on the board to give old school D&D a try.

Do you play by post? If not would you be willing to give it a try? Please leave answers to the questions in the comments below.
